MRHS holds inaugural National Technical Honor Society Induction Ceremony

November 1, 2018 (Waxhaw, NC) – Five students from Marvin Ridge High School were recently Students inducted into NTHS inducted in the school’s inaugural chapter of the National Technical Honor Society.  Student membership in the Society and the local NTHS Chapter is composed of those who are enrolled in Career Readiness Education Programs, and who qualify according to the following characteristics:

  • Having completed at least 3 Career & Technical Education Courses
  • Having achieved a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.25
  • Having demonstrated significant involvement in Career & Technical Student Organizations (which include FBLA, DECA, HOSA, FCCLA, Skills USA, and FFA)
  • Having demonstrated honesty, dependability, initiative, service, leadership, citizenship, and the ability to work well with others  

Information on all students who were inducted is listed below:

Chandler Brown:
Chandler has been involved with DECA during the past 3 years—competing at local and state competitions, participating in community service, and holding an officer position.  Chandler plans to attend a 4-year University to study in the general area of Information Technology.

Harleigh Dieffenbach:
Harleigh has also been involved with DECA during the past 3 years—competing at local, state and National competitions, participating in community service, and currently holds the position of President of DECA.  Harleigh plans to attend a 4-year University to study in the general area of Marketing.

Kaleigh Fanning:
Kaleigh has been involved with Film Club as an Officer, and FBLA as an Officer during the past 3 years—competing at both state and National competitions. She has participated in community service, and completed Industry Certifications in Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint.  Kaleigh plans to attend a 4-year University to study in the general area of Business Management.

Carter Wang:
Carter has been involved in Robotics since his freshman year.  He has held an officer position for three years, and competed in various Robotics tournaments.  Carter plans to attend a 4-year University to study in the general area of Engineering.

Sophia Williams:
Sophia has been involved with Film Club since her freshman year. She held the office of President last year and has won many awards for video projects at the Union County Film Festival.  Sophia has also been involved with FBLA since her freshman year.  During this time, she has competed on both state, and National levels and currently holds the position of President of FBLA.

In addition, several educators who have collectively contributed decades of time and effort as educators, career development coordinators, and Career & Technical Student Organization Advisors were also inducted as Honorary Members in the Society.  Those individuals are listed below:

National Technical Honor Society The goal of the National Technical Honor Society is to see that deserving Career & Technical students are recognized and that people of the community become aware of the talents and abilities of the young people and adults who choose Career & Technical Education pathways to a successful future.

The purpose of NTHS is to promote the ideals of honesty, service, leadership, and skill development among America’s future work force and to encourage the practice of high standards of personal and professional conduct and individual responsibility among the membership.
