Mavs Science and Engineering Fair Team Have Amazing Results!
The UNC Charlotte North Carolina Science and Engineering Fair was held on February 21 and 22nd. Marvin Ridge was represented by 6 students (4 projects) and were the recipients of some major awards.
Jacob Holland, Ethan Claxton and Anthony Giocondi (“Employing electrolysis as a basis to solve Global Environmental Issues”) received The American Meteorology Society Award.
Mason Sufnarski (“A Demand for Sand: The Effectiveness of a Plastic Substitute in Concrete”) won 3rd place in Earth/Environmental Science and advances to the State Competition. Mason also won the Richo Sustainable Development Award and the ASM Materials Education Foundation Most Outstanding Exhibit in Materials Science.
Srikar Pasumarthy (“Exploring the Ocean: A Novel Method of Discovering New Aquatic Species”) took 2nd Place in Engineering and qualified for the State Completion.
Prabuddha Ghosh Dastidar (“Pre-mRNA Splicing Inhibition as a Potential Pancreatic Cancer Treatment”) had the top project and bypasses the State Competition to go to The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Anaheim, California May 10-15.
Congratulations to all of these students and the hard work they put in to achieve their awards. The Mavs Science and Engineering Fair Team represented Marvin Ridge well this past weekend.
