DECA Success at CDC 2020!

Congratulations to the MRHS DECA Club, who brought home a record number of top honors at the NC DECA 2020 Career Development Conference, held this past weekend in Greensboro, NC.  It was one of the most successful competitions in MRHS DECA history, as 21 of 50 students were named as overall event finalists, and 14 of those students ended up being Top 10 Finalists in their chosen areas of competition.  In addition, the MRHS DECA chapter was recognized as a Gold Level Chapter of Distinction club, the only UCPS club to be given this honor.  The chapter was also recognized as a National DECA Thrive Chapter, an honor reserved for top performing chapters, in the membership and chapter campaigns categories.

 

State Winners, who automatically qualified for international competition in Nashville in April, are listed below:            

 

  1. Prabuddha Dastidar – 1st place state winner in the Personal Financial Literacy Event
  2. Jack Stephen – 2nd place state winner in the Personal Financial Literacy Event
  3. Joyce Deng – 3rd place state winner in the Automotive Services Marketing Event
  4. Brandon Clarke – 3rd place state winner in the Retail Merchandising Event
  5. Shreya Sawant – 3rd place state winner in the Restaurant and Food Service Management Event
  6. Macy Warren – 5th place state winner in the Integrated Marketing Campaign – Event Category
  7. Campbell Warren – 5th place state winner in the Integrated Marketing Campaign – Event Category
  8. Charlie Bitter – 5th place state winner in the Integrated Marketing Campaign – Event Category
  9. Jayden Starke – 5th place in the Sports & Entertainment Marketing Event

 

In addition, the following students were also named Top 10 Finalists in their areas of competition, and have been invited to participate in a number of leadership academies at ICDC:

 

  1. Sophia Freeman – 6th Place Overall – Marketing Communications Event
  2. Niyathi Gorantla – 6th Place Overall – Human Resource Management Event
  3. Declan Waters – 7th Place Overall – Human Resource Management Event
  4. Lorie Nguyen – 8th Place Overall – Human Resource Management Event
  5. Nina Emanuel – 8th Place Overall – Sports and Entertainment Marketing Event
