Top Results at the Virtual Science & Engineering Fair!

The Mavs Science and Engineering Fair had outstanding results at the Region 6 Virtual Fair on February 11! Out of the nine who competed, five Mavs placed in the top 3 of their category and will present at the State Fair in April, and Mason Sufnarski won the grand prize and will present at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair in May. 

 

Srinidhi Jayaprakash placed 3rd in Biological Sciences A for her project “Controlling Enzyme Levels in Various Foods with the Enzyme Invertase” and advances to the state fair.

 

Pranav Narala placed 1st in Physics & Math for his project “Using Mathematical Models to Predict Disease Growth” and advances to the state fair. Pranav also received a special award from Mu Alpha Theta. 

 

Shlock Patel placed 1st in Biological Sciences A for his project “The Effects of Drugs Used to Stop the Ebola Virus on the NPC1 Protein and the Human Body” and advances to the state fair.

 

Aditya Suma Ramakrishn placed 1st in Technology for his project and advances to the state fair. Aditya also received a special award from the Yale Science and Engineering Association.

 

Mason Sufnarski won the grand prize for his project “Rethinking Our Roads: The Ability of Porous Concrete to Reduce Surface Runoff of Tire Wear Particles (TWP)” and bypasses the state fair to the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in May. Mason also received 2 special awards, one from RICOH USA and another from USAID. 

 

Sam Yount placed 3rd in Engineering for his project “Theories of Automation” and advances to the state fair. 

 

Several other students also presented, including Susan Chemmanoor for her project “The Effect of Auditory Stimulation on Explicit Memory Recall,” Advik Arora for his project “Bridges and Their Structural Integrity,” and Saurav Ramireddy for his project “Oxidation: The Effectiveness and What it Contributes to the Environment.”
