School Hours

School hours are 8:40am to 3:45pm.  All students must be in their seats for attendance at 8:40am.  Students will not be permitted in the building prior to 8am. 

Lunch Accounts

New students to UCPS will receive an account number at the beginning of school from the cafeteria personnel.

On-line accounts can be set up for cafeteria payments through www.k12paymentcenter.com.

Outside fast food from commercial restaurants (ie. McDonald’s, Subway, Chick-fil-A, etc.) is not permitted to be brought to the cafeteria during lunch times.  Current lunch and breakfast menus can be found on the MRMS website.

PE Clothes

PE clothes can only be purchased from the PE department.  The cost per uniform is $5 for the shirt and $10 for the shorts.  Uniforms may also be purchased during the 6th Grade Boot Camp and Open House in August and from PE teachers anytime during the school year.  Checks should be made out to MRMS.

Technology

All UCPS students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade will receive a laptop computer and charger.  Students will be 100% responsible for any loss or damage.  Laptop bags will not be provided.  It is recommended that students purchase their own bag.  Computer dimensions:  11.8”W x 8.3”D x .9”H. 

Lockers & Backpacks

Students will be issued a lock and locker at the beginning of the year.  Students are not permitted to use personal locks on the lockers. Exterior decorations are not allowed.  Interior shelves are ok.  Locker dimensions are:  10-1/2” width – 10-1/2” depth – 35” high.  Students are required to keep their backpacks in their lockers during the day.  Rolling backpacks are not permitted.

Spirit Wear

Spirit wear is sold by the PTSO online at the beginning of the year and before the holidays.  Any questions regarding this should be directed to the PTSO – www.mrmsonline.com

Volunteers

Parents new to UCPS that are interested in volunteering must complete a volunteer application online at https://ucpsvolunteers.com and be approved prior to participating in any volunteer opportunities.  Any questions should be directed to Schelly.Conneely@ucps.k12.nc.us.

MRMS Clubs

Middle school clubs usually begin in mid-September and meet before or after school.  Announcements regarding various clubs and how to join will be made via the morning announcements.  Clubs currently offered:  24 Club, Battle of the Books, Drama, FCA/First Priority, Jr. Student Council, Beta Club, Lego Robotics.

Most Middle School sports are sponsored by the booster club and are funded by a registration fee.  The fees are our only source to sponsor and fund the programs.  Boys and Girls Basketball and Basketball Cheer are sponsored by UCPS and there are no Booster Club fees to participate in those three sports.

Please note that no refunds will be issued for any reason once a spot on a team is accepted.

Fall Sports:

Registration opens on June 1 thru mid-July.  Tryouts for some sports will be during the 3rd and 4th week of July and at the beginning of August.  There are no make-up dates for missed tryouts.
