Make A Donation Today and Help Fight Cancer

McBride I HATE CANCER!!! That is the simplest reason I can give you for why I am running for Man of the Year. I lost my father to cancer 51 years ago and my mother 36 years ago. I had to watch what both of them battled, even though I was too young to really understand it when my father was fighting his battle. Then, in 2011, my brother-in-law told us he had lymphoma and I was determined to find a way to fight this battle and to repay my parents. The day after Gordon told us of his diagnosis I saw a billboard for Team in Training, the endurance team for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and I knew it was a sign from God for me. I signed up that very night to do my very first marathon and started fundraising. I have raised money for LLS and been able to run marathons in Alaska, California, Florida, Louisiana, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, and Washington DC. I have been blessed to meet some amazing cancer fighters along the way, both those raising funds and those fighting it. I have heard amazing stories of progress being made but I also know the fight is not over yet. Until there is a cure, I will keep running and raising money.

But as you know, everyone wins when cancer loses, and thanks to your support, my efforts will help fund the therapies and treatments that save lives, not someday but today.  Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.

Many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients, but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.
We really are getting close to our goal of a world without blood cancers!
