On Friday, March 17th, at Monroe Middle School, The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) UNC Charlotte Chapter presented a Science Night for all students and parents. Students of all ages and parents enjoyed dinner provided by the society and well as activities related to science, math, and engineering. The SPHE members offered information to parents about the benefits of pursuing higher education. The students remained in the media center and were able to take part in trust games in which they found connections with their peers. The students were also allowed to build and test catapults. The students worked together with the engineers as they worked to find solutions to building their catapults. The engineers also talked to the students about their individual study concentration areas and talked about what kind of classes they took and what types of careers they hoped to pursue after college. In the lecture room, engineers presented parents with useful information on college opportunities, scholarships, and financial aid. Monroe Middle School would like to thank the engineers for this event. It was a night that was enjoyed and well received by all who attended.
