March 20th marked the kickoff of Monroe Middle School’s first annual College and Career Readiness week. MMS halls were decorated in college and university logos, pennants, and flyers. Students received daily “College and Career Readiness Tips of the Day” presented by fellow students on the morning announcements to encourage them to begin thinking about their futures now.
Faculty engaged in the week-long festivities by wearing their university regalia, and shirts, sharing information about their education including, online virtual tours, pictures of themselves from college, and sharing their overall college experiences. Throughout the week students used the posted college and university materials in the halls, and conversations with faculty, to participate in the MMS College Scavenger Hunt. Students who were able to connect the most faculty to the universities they attended were eligible to choose from prizes including college t-shirts, hats, pennants, stickers, etc.
The MMS College and Career Readiness week was capped off with a poster contest in which students demonstrated their creativity in sharing their academic and career goals.
