Spotlight on Battle of the Books

On Monday, March 18th, our Battle of the Books team traveled to the Union County Agricultural Center to compete against 18 other UCPS elementary school teams. This was the culminating event after a year’s worth of hard work. While we didn’t earn bragging rights to first place this year, we are super proud of our team’s efforts!

So, what is Battle of the Books? A team of students, led by Ms. Brandt, Mrs. Grieco and Ms. Zimmerman, read 15 books over the course of the summer/school year. Each student spent hours reading, learning information about the content of the book, and prepared to battle, all while having tons of laughs and fun! Students battle against other school teams to see who can answer the most questions, earn the most points, and be crowned the Union County Public Schools’ champ!

Are you interested in joining our team for next school year? We are excited to have many returning members, but we always have room for more avid readers! More information will be coming to rising 4th and 5th graders in the coming weeks, so be on the lookout!
