National Library Week

Lightening Girl hats off to reading

Our HAWKtastic Media Coordinator, Mrs. Cunningham wants you to know that this week, 4/19-4/25, is National Library Week.  You can celebrate by making a virtual library visit to explore and find books to read!  Login to MyOn and find a fun title about a favorite topic or get lost in a new series.  Remember, MyOn is available via the UCPS Student Start-Up page, using student login credentials.

Mrs. Cunningham has already finished 13 books during quarantine and started reading the eBOB list for next year (that’s Elementary Battle of the Books for all of you rising 4th and 5th graders interested for next year!)  So far Miscalculations of Lightening Girl has been her favorite but she highly recommends Wildfire for students that like the I Survived series because it is an adventure story.

When Mrs. Cunningham isn’t reading she loves to spend time outside.  In fact, her family has set up Camp Cunningham at her house!  They have hung hammocks and been enjoying campfires to roast marshmallows.  When she’s not in quarantine at home with her family, she loves to sit on the beach and watch the waves all day.
Hammock Reading

Believe it or not, Mrs. Cunningham has books from when she was younger that have homemade “spine labels” of white paper and scotch tape and even made a list of all of her books; she was definitely destined to be a librarian from a young age and we are so lucky she brought her passion for books and reading to New Town.

Have you discovered a new book or series that you love during this time of quarantine?
