Have you found yourself humming a tune as you sit down to complete your schoolwork? Perhaps you’ve been busy making videos of yourself singing your favorite song or maybe you’ve re-discovered your recorder (that your parents thought they hid so well!) and have enjoyed playing Hot Cross Buns on repeat. If so, our HAWKtastic Music teacher, Mrs. Clink, would be so happy to know that music has been an important part of your quarantine.
Mrs. Clink has been hard at work recording videos of songs and games that our HAWKS can do at home (hopefully no recorders will be needed). She is exploring the best way to share these files so stay tuned for more details!
When Mrs. Clink isn’t busy with music, she has enjoyed having more time to go running. She will be running two virtual 5k’s over the next few weeks for May the 4th Be With You (#StarWarsNerd and proud of it). Speaking of sports, a fun fact about Mrs. Clink is that she has a 2nd degree black belt in Ishin Ryu Karate! Isn’t it amazing the things you can learn about your teachers?!
Mrs. Clink understands all too well how hard this time of quarantine has been as various events have been postponed or cancelled for our HAWKS. She is currently working on her Master’s degree and was supposed to graduate in December but that has been postponed for a year. Many of the concerts and rehearsals for ensembles that she plays in areno longer performing and she is missing her music-making community dearly.
Check out Mrs. Clink’s FlipGrid (password: NewTown2020) and let her know what you've been listening to on your playlist, play her a song on your recorder or let her know your favorite musical artist!
