Culinary Students Win Awards at UCPS Holiday Bakeshop Competition

The Intro to Culinary Arts and Hospitality class and Foods I class brought home three culinary awards from the annual UCPS Holiday Bakeshop Competition on the evening of Saturday, December 3, 2016. Culinary students at competition.   Along with students from the other high schools in the district, seventeen students from Carolyn Hoobler’s culinary classes entered eight different desserts and provided over 800 delicious samples of the treats to judges and visitors. The category entries included:  candy, bars, rolled cookies, drop cookies and tablescape.  Parkwood High School came home with first place in the bars category for their Apple Streusel Cheesecake bars. Junior Raeanne Jackman and her team: Megan Free, Charli Bahr and Erin Smith created the award-winning bars. 

Parkwood High also placed third in the rolled cookies category, led by junior Xavier Joselin and freshman Liz Diaz with their 3D Holiday Present Sugar Cookies and also placed third in the tablescape category, which featured a royal blue and white winter wonderland theme which matched Parkwood’s school colors.  All proceeds from the contest go to the New Century Scholars program scholarship fund, serving students in every Union County high school. Now... is anybody feeling hungry?
