Next week, on Wednesday, March 20, Denise Lamar (UCPS Director for Nutrition) and Sallie Roberts (UCPS Dietician), are coming to work with our NC Jr Chef Competition team of 4 students to prepare 100 servings of the team’s recipe for our PWHS students & staff in the cafeteria. Our PWHS Culinary team will compete at the second NC Jr. Chef Competition on Monday April 1 in Hillsborough, NC along with 7 other NC High School teams.
The recipe is called: “Southern Fried Chicken Lo Mein” which is described as “a flavorful one-pan Asian inspired and southern-loving hot lunch or dinner entrée with fried chicken pieces, whole wheat pasta, broccoli, red & green cabbage, carrots, onions and kale.”
PWHS's culinary team will help Denise, Sallie and John (supervisor) prepare 100 servings of this dish on the traditional line in our cafeteria in time for first lunch on Wednesday, March 20 at 11:30 a.m. Our Culinary students will conduct a student taste test survey during this lunch period, as well and submit this information in their team’s portfolio.
Students who are interested in participating in this student taste test, should go to the cafeteria on Wednesday, March 20 and get a serving of the "Southern Fried Chicken Lo Mein". Be sure to come early, as they are only making 100 servings and it is first come, first serve. Parkwood also wants to wish the culinary team good luck at their competition on April 1!
