Another new face around Parkwood this year is Mrs. Ashleigh Parker. Mrs. Parker teaches one of the EC classes. She chose this profession after seeing her sister, who has autism, struggle in school. Mrs. Parker grew up in the mountains of North Carolina and attended Salem College. She has taught many grades before coming to Parkwood such as fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and ninth through twelfth grade. She says her favorite grade to teach is the twelfth grade because it is the last step until students become adults and she loves to be part of that. Mrs. Parker lives with her husband and two kids. They also have one German shepherd, one cat, six chickens, two pheasants and 20 bunnies. However she misses her favorite animal which is a sloth.
