Kindergarten students at East Elementary enjoyed learning about capacity through a fun hands on water activity. The students experimented with the capacity of different shapes of containers. They counted scoops of water that it took to fill each container, then recorded the number of scoops. They ordered the containers from the container that held the most water to the container that held the least. The ESL students discussed why some containers held more water than others. The students enjoyed the activity and had meaningful conversations about capacity.
