On Jan. 8th, 2022, students from Cuthbertson High School delivered 85 gifts to 21 families in Union County in celebration of "3 Kings Day," a traditional Latino holiday. In collaboration with Gustavo Arevalo, UCPS Latino Outreach Coordinator, Stacie Thompson's Spanish classes and Spanish club at CHS worked together for several months learning about the cultural importance of this holiday in the Latino community, donating, wrapping, and finally delivering the gifts directly to the families' homes. They got to see how delighted the children were to see the 3 Kings on their very own doorsteps, bringing gifts especially for them.
This was truly a community effort of sharing time, resources, kindness, and culture. This project personally connected CHS students to our Latino community in a very special way, allowing an immersive opportunity to use their Spanish locally. Students got to experience how sharing what we have improves our community and brings us all together.
