Parkwood Middle recently took 20 8th grade students to the 3rd annual NASCAR Hall of Fame STEAM day. These students were selected by a team of 8th grade teachers because they consistently demonstrate problem-solving and collaborative skills in the classroom. Throughout the day, students were able to choose from engineering workshops, historical tours of famous drivers and cars, and even the infamous NASCAR race simulator. Students were asked to examine how science, technology, engineering, and math play an integral role in various careers related to NASCAR. Most students said the highlight of their day was racing against the clock on the pit crew challenge. PWMS fastest time was 12.61 seconds!
