Evan Martino named Distinguished Student Leader

Congratulations to Evan Martino who has been selected as a Distinguished Student Leader by the National Student Council and the National Association of Secondary School Principals.  The Distinguished Student Leaders program was created to encourage students to reach their full potential as leaders by demonstrating an understanding of the many concepts and ideals of leadership.  

Evan is a four year member of Piedmont High Student Government where he has served as a school officer and Western District Chairman on the North Carolina Association of Student Council (NCASC) Executive Board. Martino has been an advocate of parliamentary procedure and has worked tirelessly to develop his leadership skills. He has left a path for other students  to follow.Evan has served as a Junior Counselor for NCASC events and has traveled extensively across the U.S. on behalf of Piedmont High. Evan has also been an active participant in cross country and track at PHS. His leadership skills have been recognized by his peer group as he is a Senior Class officer and a member of the UCPS Superintendent’s Advisory Council. Evan continues to engage students across UCPS as facilitator of UCoStuCo, a committed group of student leaders from all Union County schools. Evan hopes to attend Roanoke College where he plans to study political science.
