Piedmont Jr. Shooting Sports Team wins NC Youth Hunter Education Skills Tournament!  On Saturday, April 27, nine students from the Piedmont Jr. Shooting Sports team competed against other district winners from across the state of North Carolina in Ellerbe, NC.  Students competed in Archery, .22 Rifle, Shotgun Trap, and Orienteering and Hunter Skills.  Our team won first place overall with the highest combined score in the four events.  They also won first place in Archery and Orienteering and Hunter Skills events. They placed third in Shotgun Trap.

Individual winners include Josh Goodman who won first place overall, first in Archery and Orienteering and Hunter Skills, and second place in Shotgun Trap.  Josh shot a perfect score in Shotgun Trap to qualify for the Shotgun Shoot-off with only four other middle school students from the state.  Colin Humphrey won second in Archery.  By winning the State Tournament, the Piedmont Jr. Shooting Sports team earned the privilege to travel to New York in July to compete in the East Coast Regional Youth Hunter Education Challenge to compete with other state champions from the Eastern half of the United States.
