CTE wins $1,000 during Manufacturing Awareness Week
During the last week of September, the Union County Chamber of Commerce has a Make It in Union County program to bring awareness of the products that are manufactured here and shipped all over the world. Large corporations such as Charlotte Plastics and Goulston invite the public to tour their facilities. Middle and high school teachers are encouraged to host speakers, projects, and activities in their classrooms to educate students on the work opportunities and products made in Union County. During the expo at SPCC, Mrs. Griffin and Mr. Hill, CTE teachers at Piedmont Middle, had the highest student/parent participation and therefore won $1,000 for their classrooms. Mrs. Griffin will be purchasing artificial intelligence technology for her 8th-grade students, and Mr. Hill will be purchasing supplies for his robotics club.
