Union County Deputy Sheriff Tiffany Hill has been selected as the Union County Crimestoppers Officer of the Year. Deputy Hill was recognized during yesterday’s Crimestoppers BBQ at the Ag Center. Crimestoppers President Reid Helms presented her with the award.
Deputy Hill is assigned as a School Resource Officer and received a Life Saving Award last year after helping an 8 year old child at Porter Ridge Elementary School choking on a piece of chicken. After assessing the situation, she immediately realized the child was choking and struggling to breathe. She began performing abdominal thrusts which enabled the child to cough up the food and resume normal breathing.
Deputy Hill has frequently donated blood to assist others in need. She also volunteers with the American Cancer Society and the Cancer Survivor’s Dinner. She has volunteered for assignments to other Sheriff’s Offices during natural disasters such as hurricanes.
