Once a Pirate, Always a Pirate

The fifth grade teachers, school staff, and school administrators held a drive through promotion celebration for our Porter Ridge Fifth Graders on Monday June, 8th from 4-6 p.m. 

 

The students and families were encouraged to decorate their cars and drive through to receive awards, promotion certificates, and other goodies the teachers had prepared for them.  As they entered the bus lot each student's name was announced on the loudspeaker and their picture was taken from the car practicing social distancing.   They then moved on to be greeted by their teacher and pick up their belongings and gifts.  The special area teachers and several instructional assistants were also there to greet the students and say hello.

 

This was an emotionally charged day for the students and staff, as we have missed each other so much these past few months.  It was great to see the students and reconnect with them if only for a few minutes.   The teachers and staff are very excited to see what the future holds for each student we have taught.   We are so proud of them and we know they will do great things.
