One teacher's journey to Israel

 

Kat Smith visits Israel This winter break, Social Studies teacher Kat Smith will have the opportunity to travel to Israel. During her nine day visit, which begins on December 22nd, she will be visiting different schools in the area, as well as experiencing life with a host family.
 
Smith will be fully immersed in the culture of Israel, witnessing many Jewish traditions, such as the Hanukkah blessing and Kabbalat Shabbat. During her trip, she will also travel to Jerusalem, where she will tour the Jewish quarter and attend different museums such as Yad Vashem, the Herzl Museum, and the Friend of Zion museum. Also, Ms. Smith will be partaking in the Western Wall tunnels tour, as well as touring the Seam Line.
 

“I am extremely excited about this journey! Since teaching Remember the Holocaust at Porter Ridge, I have relished the opportunity to learn more about the Holocaust, as well as Israel,” says Smith.
