Porter Ridge High School’s Junior/Senior Prom was a night to remember. It was held on Saturday, April 13, 2019, at the Hilton Charlotte Center City from 8pm until midnight. Under the Sea was this year’s theme. The 2019 prom tickets were designed by freshman Brett Walner and the decorations were set up by the Prom Committee and several teachers who volunteered.
The Hilton’s venue had perfect open space and lighting to match the underwater themes of blue, green, and lavender which made the night feel special. Jellyfish table toppers, coral around the door frames and large glowing columns set the scene for the night.
When asked about her experience at Prom, Prom Sponsor Rachel Lukasik said, “This year was the largest ticket sales in Porter Ridge history with 602 students who purchased and attended. To say I was nervous would be the understatement of the year, but it turned out to be a flawless and beautiful evening for Porter Ridge students and staff.”
Art teacher Jan Kerley added on saying, “I loved Prom this year with the bouncy dance floor and all the students and teachers looking so beautiful! I think it was a huge success and tons of fun for my very last Porter Ridge prom!”
When asked about being on the committee, sophomore Reagan O’Bday said, “My favorite part of being on the committee was getting to be creative with all of the decorations!”
Seniors George Boyadjian and Lauren Rogers were crowned Prom King and Queen this year.
Sharing her thoughts about prom, junior Makenzie Toth said, “Prom was the best experience of my life!”
Many activities were available to do while at Prom. There were picture taking opportunities at the picture booth and by a professional photographer. Food and drinks were also provided and included desserts, finger foods, sodas, and water. And of course, last but not least, students were jamming on the dance floor while singing out loud, laughing and talking with friends.
Senior Anthony Ippolito added, “I am so glad to have gone to my senior prom! It was a great night I’ll never forget.”
