This year the PRHS Rho Kappa chapter wanted to recognize their appreciation for US veterans in a creative way. On Tuesday, November 12th they honored them by sponsoring a PRHS wear red, white and blue day.
In addition as the holidays approach, the club recognizes that many active servicemen do not get to come home for the holidays and wanted to say thank you for their service and protecting American freedoms. The idea of making cards was suggested by the NC State Superintendent Mark Johnson through this letter. Students were encouraged to write letters or cards to send to active duty servicemen. Several teachers included the activity in their classes and the club collected over 300 cards. The cards were mailed to Raleigh and shipped out from there.
Rho Kappa faculty sponsor and Social Studies teacher, Kelly Crowell, commented, "Many classes participated in our activities and I am really impressed with our students."
