Student artists receive accolades

This year several PRHS artists won awards and honorable mentions at the 2022 Union County Community Arts Council (UCCAC) Student Artist Showcase. Art teachers Kristen Baucom and Nicole Crowley were each allowed to select 8 pieces of student artwork to submit for the art show. Selections were based on criteria such as:  proper use of media and methods, quality craftsmanship, and creativity. Cara Neal Digital Drawing

Before COVID, the art show was held at the SPCC Conference Center but has been a virtual exhibit since. The link went live on May 11th. Click here to see the entire showcase.

“It is an honor to have my students' work on display alongside the many talented and hardworking art students in Union County. I am so proud of all my students that had their art displayed in the show. I see the behind-the-scenes effort and determination that goes into making these pieces, so for them to get recognition for their artistry is exciting to me as well. This is something they will always remember and be proud of, and that brings me joy,” Baucom commented.

Crowley also commented, "I was so fortunate to have great students this school year who seemed to thoroughly enjoy Visual Arts 1 and Ceramics 1 and 2. Through their dedication to their pieces and constant hard work, they created some amazing art that I was able to share. I couldn't be prouder of my students! They received such positive recognition through their award ribbons, as well as positive feedback from community members and other art teachers. I love getting the chance to share the artwork that we create inside the classroom!"

Participants commented on how they felt about being recognized in the showcase.
