It’s a place to... explore, expand your imagination, be creative, challenge yourself, and build things. This year, Prospect has a new addition to our enhancement classes: a Makerspace class!
Makerspaces provide hands-on, creative ways to encourage students to design, experiment, build and invent as they collaboratively engage in science, engineering, creativity, and tinkering. It’s a place for everyone- creative or not, to come and explore using repurposed items, building materials and technology. Evan Harrill, a third grader in Ms. Coggins’ class commented, “I enjoyed building a robot from the future out of K’nex materials! ” Leah Renrick, also a third grader in Ms. Coggins’ class, enjoyed being creative on the dry erase table by just drawing and having so much space to do so! Ben Mullins, a third grader in Ms. St. Clair’s class commented, “Legos are not just bricks like some people think. You can create anything. The only limit is your imagination.” Classroom teachers can sign up to bring their class to the Makerspace once a week.
