Preschoolers Visit Prospect!

Library

First Baptist of Monroe’s preschool students who will be starting kindergarten in the fall came, with their teachers, and parents to tour Prospect!

Dr. Chinnis greeted the students, teachers, and parents as they got out of the bus and cars and made their way into the school.  The first stop on the tour was the media center where Miss Hill, Media Coordinator, interviewed three kindergarten ambassadors about being a kindergarten student and the differences between kindergarten and preschool.

After the media center, the tour continued to the cafeteria where students walked through the lunch line to see what it was like.  The preschoolers did such a great job following the kindergarten ambassadors through the cafeteria!  The third stop on the tour was the Makerspace!  While in the Makerspace, the kindergarten ambassadors showed the preschoolers how to use the dry erase table and Lego wall!  The preschoolers do STEM activities at their school so the teachers and students were excited to see this room.  The tour progressed and went by the music room, art room, past the playground and into Mrs. Bryant’s kindergarten classroom. Preschoolers, parents, and teachers observed Mrs. Bryant’s students in their literacy centers and asked questions about what they were learning.

The tour continued out to the bus lot where bus driver, Mr. Tyson, let students climb on the bus and sit in the seats!! They were so excited to be on a “real bus”!  The last stop on the tour was the gym.  The preschool students loved the gym because they got to play for a minute before they had to go back to their school.

Prospect loved having the rising kindergarteners visit us and we cannot wait to have some of them join our school in August!
