Welcome to Kindergarten!
Barbara Smith, McCall Reeder, Kelly Nance, Marissa Bryant and Devin Wallace
We can’t wait for your child to join us here at Prospect!
At Prospect, we have a wonderful kindergarten staff and we would like to introduce them to you!
Kelly Nance has been teaching for 13 years and every one of those years has been at Prospect! Mrs. Nance grew up in Union County where she graduated from Forest Hills High School and Wingate University. When deciding on her profession, Mrs. Nance chose to become a teacher because she loves kids and finds it “so exciting to watch them learn and grow!” Mrs. Nance is married with two children, loves to craft and garden, and is the leader of Good News Club at Prospect.
McCall Reeder is in her second year of teaching kindergarten at Prospect. Teaching was not Miss Reeder’s original plan, but the opportunity found her and she fell in love with this school and these kids! Miss Reeder is an avid Disney fan! She worked in the college program at Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. In her spare time, she loves to read, write, and spend countless hours with her beautiful niece Hallie Joe.
Barbara Smith has been teaching for about 20 years and this is her 9th year at Prospect. Before she became a teacher’s assistant, Mrs. Smith owned her own licensed daycare. She decided to switch professions when she found out she was pregnant with a son with Down syndrome. This was a turning point in Ms. Barbara’s life and she wanted to work with Exceptional Children at the Wolfe School and Sardis Elementary. When the need arose, Ms. Barbara moved to Prospect. Ms. Barbara is family-orientated, loving, kind and will do anything for anybody especially her four children!
Marissa Bryant grew up in Leominster, Massachusetts and graduated from Liberty University. While at Liberty, she started out majoring in Communications but changed her major when she realized she could impact the lives of others daily as a teacher. Mrs. Bryant is in her third year teaching at Prospect and loves the welcoming community at Prospect, she says “it’s like a little town inside of a school”. Outside of school, Mrs. Bryant loves to sing, lead worship at her church, and spend time with her husband, her baby dog Bear, and her nieces and nephews that she has nicknamed “The Fab Four”.
Devin Wallace was born in Monroe, NC and moved to Belmont, NC during part of her childhood before moving back to Monroe and graduating from Parkwood High School. Mrs. Wallace started working at Prospect six years ago, as a Teacher’s Assistant, when her middle son was starting kindergarten. Prior to working at Prospect, Mrs. Wallace was a preschool teacher and worked in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Mrs. Wallace loves being at Prospect with her children and watching ALL the children learn and grow. This year marks the first year Mrs. Wallace has seen the fifth grade class move from kindergarten through fifth grade. In her time away from school, Mrs. Wallace loves shopping, singing, organizing, and cleaning!
We look forward to you and your child to join us here at Prospect. For more information about Kindergarten Registration, please go to https://www.ucps.k12.nc.us/Page/2760
