Kindergarten at Prospect

Audrey Coggins is in her 16th year of teaching at Prospect.  She has taught grades 4,3, 2 and Kindergarten.  Ms. Coggins grew up in Indian Land, SC where she graduated from Indian Land High School.  She attended Winthrop University and earned her master's degree from Queens University. Ms. Coggins's love for working with children led her to become a teacher.  She loves the fact that no day is ever the same.   Ms. Coggins has one son, Walker.  She enjoys watching him participate in sports, especially baseball.  Ms. Coggins enjoys reading and spending time with her family and her 2 dogs, Zoey and Eve.

Kelly Nance has been teaching for 14 years and every one of those years has been at Prospect!  Mrs. Nance grew up in Union County where she graduated from Forest Hills High School and Wingate University. When deciding on her profession, Mrs. Nance chose to become a teacher because she loves kids and finds it “so exciting to watch them learn and grow!”  Mrs. Nance is married with two children, loves to craft and garden, and is the leader of Good News Club at Prospect.

Shelia Nyman grew up in Savannah, Georgia and graduated from Troy State University. Ms. Nyman has been teaching for 25 years.  She has two sons that are 17 and 19 years old.

Erica Houser grew up in Monroe, NC!  Ms. Houser graduated from Monroe High School and attended Winston-Salem State University.  Ms. Houser loves helping other people and that led to her becoming one of our amazing teacher's assistants.

Tammy Melvin grew up in West Virginia and started higher education at the University of Charleston (West Virginia). She finished her degree at Central Piedmont Community College with a degree in medical transcription.  Mrs. Melvin spent ten years in the medical field, stayed at home with her four children (including a set of triplets!), and then started working with the school system when her children started school. Mrs. Melvin has now been working in education for 17 years! Mrs. Melvin enjoys gardening flowers and vegetables, is a self-proclaimed food critic, and a grandma for two years now!

Prospect is proud to be a Leader in Me school and we believe that every student can be a leader.  If you would like to learn more about a Leader in Me, please check out this brochure.
