Second Grade Students Study Global Diversity

The second grade students prepared for Thanksgiving by celebrating global diversity. They learned about their family heritage, as well the family heritage of their classmates. The activities that were completed support our State Standards for Social Studies. The grade level novel study was Molly’s Pilgrim by Barbara Cohen. This book inspired the students to create a pilgrim representing their family heritage and traditions. They interviewed their family members and created a family tree. This project taught cultural differences, family heritage, collaboration skills and awareness of global diversity!
