Sayera Qasim is Managing Corporate Counsel for the Vendor Contracts, IP & Privacy Law team at Brighthouse Financial.  Brighthouse Financial is the brand name for its affiliate companies that offer annuity and life insurance products.  In her current position, her primary role is to lead a team of three lawyers and a contract manager in the negotiation of contracts.

Prior to joining Brighthouse, Sayera spent six years as Senior Corporate Counsel with an industrial manufacturer where she supported the Global Procurement and IT functions, negotiated direct and indirect material agreements, and advised on supply chain issues. 

Before going in-house to join a corporate law department, Sayera practiced law for five years with Adams & Reese and later Parker Poe where she largely represented financial institutions in the areas of creditors’ right, foreclosure, receivership, and commercial bankruptcy proceedings.

Sayera graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial & Labor Relations and then, after obtaining three years of business management work experience, graduated from the University of Memphis law school where she was the Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review.

 She grew up in Upstate New York and has been living in Charlotte for over 11 years with her husband and two kids.  In her spare time, Sayera loves to exercise, travel and spend time with family and friends.
