Captain Friendship and the Bully Bandit

Captain Friendship and the Bully Bandit

First, second and third graders enjoyed Captain Friendship and the Bully Bandit performance by the Bright Star Touring Theatre from Asheville, NC on Wednesday, October 5th.  This super hero show was designed to provide strategies children can use to stand up to bullying.

Captain Friendship and her sidekick The Amazing Amigo encouraged students to stop bullying whenever they saw someone being bullied.  Students at Rock Rest Elementary School were taught several strategies they could use if they were ever bullied, They could, “Just Walk Away, Tell an Adult, Ignore the Bully, and Have a group of friends to hang out with.”   Captain Friendship and the Amazing Amigo also taught students a hand signal and saying to use whenever they saw someone being bullied,  “Enough is enough and it’s time to be friends.”

The best part of the show was when Captain Friendship bestowed her super hero powers unto all the students to stop the bullying.  Students at Rock Rest Elementary were very engaged during the Bright Star Touring Theatre performance.  The Bright Star Touring Theatre is in their 14th Season!  Just this year alone they will perform 1,400 performances in schools and theatres, historic sites and museums, community events and libraries.
