STEM throughout the year

Throughout the year students had opportunities to explore several different activities during their enhancement STEM class.   Of course, different students enjoyed different things but here are some favorites they mentioned the last week.  Let your child/children get creative and use some recyclables to make things or some coding time to develop their problem solving skills and creative thinking to continue their opportunities.

  • Dash robots (robots you code to do different things)
  • Ozobots
  • Cubelets
  • Legos
  • Snap Circuits/Little Bits
  • K’Nex
  • Building the boats, bird feeders, bridges and the animal adaptations/biome project with fourth graders. Give them a few items to create with and they will come up with some unique projects.
  • Younger students loved coding with Kodable, Scratch Jr. and Code.org
  • Older students used Code.org and Tynker
  • When you start hearing “I’m bored” this summer think about finding some STEM activities.  Head to the Monroe Public Library and get some books to read and while there visit their STEAM room where they have several of these items and activities to do. Many of the coding programs you can sign up for a free account.
  •  Have a wonderful summer learning with your child/children.  Explore STEM opportunities in science, technology, engineering and math. Look building boats robots dash cubelets ozobots Saving Tiny Town sound effects for weather building with Legos snap circuits robotic hands hour of code
