UCPS receives grant to support safety and security projects
At its January 10, 2019 meeting, the Union County Board of Education voted to accept a Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Grant that was awarded to the Waxhaw Police Department.
UCPS will receive $349,832 to support safety and security projects, which include video doorbell systems, a social media threat evaluator and crisis management software for administrators and school resource officers. The Waxhaw Police Department is one of 93 agencies that received the grant, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Justice. Execution of the grant project will be in partnership with the Union County Sheriff’s Office, the Town of Waxhaw and the Waxhaw Police Department.
