The University of North Carolina at Charlotte announced its first recipient of the Reed Parlier Memorial Scholarship. Via a Zoom celebration, Nathan Weisskopf received a $72,000 scholarship from the university in honor of Reed Parlier, who died tragically in 2019.
Weisskopf, a 2020 graduate of Central Academy of Technology and Arts Information Systems Academy, plans to attend UNCC and earn a bachelor’s degree in computer science with a concentration in gaming.
"We are thrilled for Nathan and his family and hope this opportunity allows him to pursue his dreams," said Julie Parlier.
A scholarship to pay tribute to Reed was established in the fall of 2019. Made possible by the generous contribution of an anonymous donor and friends of the Parlier family, the Ellis Reed Parlier Memorial Scholarship will cover Weisskopf’s four-year cost of tuition at UNC Charlotte.
