Forest Hills High School senior is May Crowder Award recipient
The Board of Education continues to honor students who are making a difference in their school and community with the John H. Crowder Service Award. At the May 4 meeting, the Board recognized a Forest Hills High School senior, who has an extraordinary willingness to serve her community through emergency medical services.
Trinity LeGrand strongly believes in community service and giving back to the people and organizations who have helped shape her into the person she is becoming.
Trinity is currently charged with leading fundraising efforts and budget development as the treasurer and fundraising chair for the National Society of Leadership and Success. She is also the senior class secretary of Forest Hills High School Student Council, a member of the Union County NAACP Youth Council, and has led a petition for speed bumps in her neighborhood.
Trinity also serves as a volunteer firefighter for the Wingate Volunteer Fire Department and is a member of the North Carolina Firefighter Association and the North Carolina Association of Rescue and Emergency Medical Services. Trinity passed the North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician Certification Exam and plans to serve her community as an emergency medical technician after her 18th birthday.
Upon graduation, she will receive an associate of arts and an associate of science transfer degrees from South Piedmont Community College (SPCC). She plans to pursue a degree in biology during her undergraduate studies and then plans to pursue a physician assistant degree so she can provide quality medical care to underserved communities and populations.
In her spare time, she participates in varsity sports including volleyball, basketball, and track, and also events to address food insecurity.
