Anu Sibu (Sun Valley Middle)
What are your most and least favorite subjects and why?
My favorite subject is ELA (English Language Arts) because I love to read. My favorite genre is mystery books. Right now I’m reading Hunger Games. I also like math because I like to figure out things and enjoy fun and challenging equations. I don’t have a least favorite subject, but I sometimes find science challenging.
If you could travel anywhere, where would it be and why?
I would travel to Paris because I want to see the Eiffel Tower. I would like to go sightseeing. I heard that the scenery is amazing.
What careers interest you?
I would like to be a pediatrician. Initially, I wanted to be a computer engineer like my mom but I realized I really enjoyed working with kids and am interested in the medical field. I thought about the careers I could have and I chose that one.
What clubs or activities do you participate in? And why?
At school, I am part of the *Student Lighthouse Team. I am also part of the Battle of the Books Team and Broadcast Team. I am also on the JV Volleyball team but our season has ended.

I am part of the choir at church, where I sing and play the piano. I also, like to *draw. My mom gave me the idea to draw and enter the district’s holiday card competition.
*Anu was one of the 10 finalists for the UCPS Holiday Card Contest.
What would you choose if you had to choose between spaghetti or pizza?
I would choose pizza because spaghetti is bland. With pizza, you can put a lot of toppings on it.
What three words best describe you?
- Faithful - I put 100 percent into anything I do. I strongly believe in the verse in the Bible that says, “Whatever you do, do wholeheartedly as if you were working for the Lord.”
- Joyful - I like to smile on people’s faces.
- Passionate - I’m going to change passionate to talented because I sing, play the piano and dance.
What is your happiest school memory?
My happiest moment was in third grade at Indian Trail Elementary when I won the school’s spelling bee. I went on to win the school’s spelling bee for the next two years.
What advice would you give your parents or teachers?
This is for all parents and teachers, my advice would be to continue, to help, guide and challenge us to be the people God wants us to be. In Proverbs, there is a verse that says, “Train up a child in the way he should go, And even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
