Mishieda Quaye (Porter Ridge Elementary)
What are your most and least favorite subjects and why?
My favorite subjects are science and math. We did fun experiments in science and I learned a lot. We did a rocks and minerals project about the three kinds of rock: igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic. For sedimentary we made smores. The crackers were the layers, the marshmallow fluff was all the materials and the chocolate chips were pieces of sediment inside. We got to eat it afterwards so that was fun. For igneous rocks, we used ice cream and chocolate syrup. We put the syrup on the ice cream or what we called the volcano ground and let it harden. The syrup was the lava fallen. I forget what we did for metamorphic rock.
I’m really good at math and find it easy.
My least favorite is reading. I love reading books, and I'm working hard to get better in class.
If you could travel anywhere, where would it be and why?
I would travel to Connecticut because I lived there for six years and I love the snow. It has lots of parks, too.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
I want to be a teacher or a soccer player. I like playing soccer and being a teacher because I like teaching and learning. Last year, one of my classmates told me I’d be a great teacher because I was helping him. This year, I started a book club. We read Geronimo Stilton books, which are about a very adventurous mouse, who gets scared a lot and is emotional. We read, do quizzes, take fun brain breaks or do a joke of the day.
What do you do for fun?
Read, ride my bicycle, play soccer, create art and play with my toys.
If you had to choose between spaghetti or pizza which would you choose?
I would choose pizza. I don’t like spaghetti and I don’t like tomato sauce, it has to be plain. Pizza you can have lots of toppings and the sauce is much better.
What three words best describe you?
- Hardworking
- Respectful
- Smart
What is your happiest school memory?
Third grade was my happiest time because of field day. We had so much fun together! I also really liked my teacher.
What advice would you give your parents or teachers?
My parents always say to work smarter, not harder. I like that advice. To my teachers: if someone is having a tough time, stay calm and do something nice to help them feel better.
