Emerson Collier (Kensington Elementary)

What is your favorite subject in school and why?

Math is my favorite subject. I really just like all the cool things I get to learn. We learn something new every day, so it's my favorite thing. Right now, I'm learning multiplication.

What's the coolest thing you've ever done in a school project or lesson?

In fourth grade, we did a fun project in reading called "Eureka." We were learning about inventors like Amelia Earhart and Thomas Edison. Then we got to become inventors and make our own creations. One of the things we made was a marble race. We even turned it into a football field for the marbles. We also built a ramp and used it to try and throw trash into a bin from two feet away. It was really fun because I love being creative. Now we’re reading Treasure Island.

If you could learn any skill instantly, what would it be?

I really want to get better at drawing. I'm good at it, but I want to make my lines perfect and really close and neat.

Would you rather be able to talk to animals or be able to speak and understand any language in the world?

That's a tough one... but I would like to talk to people who speak different languages so I can be kind to them and understand them without asking, "What did you say?" I want to get to know them better. I really want to go to Paris, so French would be the first language I would use.

What's something you're really passionate about outside of school?

I love to play with my friends. I like to draw and get better at it every day. I also like to help around the house, like load the dishwasher and help my parents out without being told.

What three words best describe you?

  • Kind
  • Creative
  • Caring

What is your happiest school memory?

I can’t really choose just one memory because I’ve only been here for two years. But I’ve really loved meeting new people in third and fourth grade and getting to know their personalities. I also really like meeting my teachers and making new friends.

If you could pick any three people to hang out with for a day, who would it be and why?

My best friend Hunter V., because she's so kind and works things out with me. We had a debate in a play and she let me have the part. My friend Annie, she’s full of joy and so funny. When we watched Peter Rabbit, she kept quoting it and I cracked up. My friend Courtney, she’s nice. We had a debate once but talked it out. I don’t like to lose friends, and she’s very understanding. I’d really like to go to Annie’s Frozen Custard—my favorite thing and I want to go to Carowinds with them.
