In an effort to reach reluctant readers, the third grade team at Sandy Ridge brainstormed ideas to give students more voice and choice in their learning. In response to data shared with them by the administration, teachers made a list of high interest books and asked students to vote on which books they would enjoy having access to. Students voted by using a form on Google classroom.
The books they chose will now be purchased with money allocated by the PTA and students will be reading books they chose in the classroom. This is one example of a Leader in Me School working together to empower students and include them in decisions that affect their education.
