Can you see music? What does it look like? Soft pastels and Monet-type images? Cool colors in geometric shapes? Multi-colored kaleidoscopes?
This question was recently posed to Sandy Ridge 4th and 5th grade students during their music, STEAM lab and art classes. Our specials team recently collaborated on an interdisciplinary project called “Can You See Music?”. Students studied various musical composers and their works. After listening to their musical pieces, students then created both a “graphic design” art piece and a “physical” art piece. Using new VoiceThread technology students then uploaded their art work and recorded information about their composer and the “why” behind their art.
Connecting music, technology, and art---collaborating with their partners---and creating original designs, Sandy Ridge is empowering our students for the future!
