December is always an exciting time for students at Sardis. During the month first graders enjoyed rotating to different classrooms for a variety of cultural holiday experiences. The students listened and watched presentations in order to record important facts about holiday traditions in four different countries. They also created a project connected to each country’s celebrations: surprise-filled crackers in England, mini piñatas in Mexico, sun catcher Christmas trees in America, and dancing dragons in China. Students then packed travel bags to take home to share what they had learned with their families. Important global connections were made in the spirit of fun and learning.
