First graders recently experienced an “in-house” field trip. A “Walk in the Woods” was the title of the event. Representative from the company came and set up a stations with many different kinds of reptiles students might experience if they went for a real “walk in the woods.” The presenter showed pictures and discussed the different kinds of reptiles that live in the United States. She brought a turtle, lizard and a snake for the students to see. Many students actually touched the snake! Students also saw a giant turtle shell and a snake’s shed skin. The experience enabled students to experience these animals up close in a safe setting. The students enjoyed the chance to learn more about animals.
