OMNOVA Reaches Out to Sun Valley Elementary SPLASH students

Sun Valley Elementary School’s Spanish immersion students got a surprise this month when OMNOVA representative, Christie Alexander presented $3,000.00 to buy Spanish library bound books.

Second grade SPLASH teacher Camila Caro said, “OMNOVA is amazing! We are so grateful for their generosity. With their help we can now provide greater support for our 4th grade students.”

This opportunity was a direct result of OMNOVA’s commitment to supporting Union County and their families.

After the award was granted, the school’s Spanish teachers helped Mr. Vickers select appropriate materials for the school library.

The school currently has five Spanish immersion classes called SPLASH. Teachers in these classes are Visiting International Faculty from different Spanish-speaking countries like Colombia and only use Spanish when working with their students.

SVES SPLASH classes involve classes in kindergarten, first, second, third, and fourth grade. The school has the expectation to increase its Spanish immersion program to involve one class in each grade level. As a K-5 school, this would mean that there would be six grade levels with Spanish-speaking classes.

SVES Principal Susan Rodgers said, “OMNOVA rocks! Our school is dedicated to all K-5 students and when we our community gives back as OMNOVA has it helps us build our legacy.”
