Honors Aerospace 4 Students Complete Final Project
The Sun Valley HS Honors Aerospace 4 students completed their final project for the two-year program. What started with Aerospace 1 and a simple 3D plane seat being created, culminated to replicating an astronautical weightless ROV (remotely operated vehicle). The purpose of this project is to apply the fundamentals of aerospace science and engineering to the design and operation of an underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV). As a capstone project in Course 4, this project requires students to integrate much of their knowledge about aerodynamics and flight. Students are challenged to design, build, and test a new ROV for monitoring aquatic ecosystems. Students start with an existing kit and modify it, or at the discretion of the instructor, create a new design.
This project would not have been possible if not for the Charlotte Pipe company donating the necessary PVC pipes and connecting hardware. The school would also like to thank the Brandon Oaks swimming pool for allowing us to test our two ROV’s.
