Interactive Learning with the Holocaust

Students in Dr. Tarlton’s Pre-College Reading and English II have begun their study of the Holocaust. This year as they began the unit, students were tasked with reading the definition of the Holocaust, breaking down the definitions of the most difficult words, and then creating student-friendly versions of their definitions. Based on this, student groups were given historical events, laws and decrees, and the world response to the Holocaust. They placed these events on the timeline, and then they decided which event from each year was the most important to them as it pertains to what they currently know as the Holocaust. As we continue to study the Holocaust, students will use these events to track a victim through the Holocaust and discuss the mentality of the Nazis and how they can protect current society from experiencing anything similar to the Holocaust.
