Students Study Sully's and Other Planes

Project Lead the Way(PLTW) Flight and Space students were given the opportunity to visit the Charlotte Aviation Museum.  The students were involved in two interactive lessons hosted by the Education department at the museum.

The first activity was learning about the parts of a plane and the four forces of flight (Thrust, Drag, Weight and Lift).  The second activity student were given a hands on opportunity to create a styrofoam airplane using aerodynamic principles for the best test results.  At the end of the lessons students were then given a tour of the “Miracle on the Hudson” Airplane (Sully’s plane) along with discussion about how this event changed some of the current aviation protocol for emergencies.
