7th Graders Explore Futures

The seventh graders had an opportunity to focus on the future for two days this past week.  The grade level was divided into two groups to enable visits to UNC-Charlotte. At UNC-C they learned about different living environments at college and the wide variety of majors and colleges contained within the University.  They toured the campus, including the libraries and were treated to a presentation on STEM opportunities.

The alternating day was spent at school was spent exploring different career and college options on Naviance - a “comprehensive K-12 college and career readiness platform that enables self-discovery, career exploration, academic planning, and college preparation”.  Additionally, they did virtual tours of a variety of colleges and heard from John Ratliff, Dean of Enrollment Services at South Piedmont Community College about opportunities there.  SVMS Career and Technical Education (CTE) teachers about a variety of job options.
