SVMS Choir Students Get Rare Opportunity

The SVMS Choir was invited to participate in the 2019 American Music Guild Heritage Awards.  On November 7, we went to Monroe Crossing Mall to rehearse for the awards ceremony, which will take place on Saturday, November 9 at Ovens Auditorium.

The Choir got to sing for and be mentored by several artists.  The picture on the top left is American Idol contestant William Oliver, Jr.  Below are two pictures of American Idol contestant Clay Page.  On the top right is Regina Belle, who recorded "A Whole New World".  In the center is Norman Greenbaum who wrote "Spirit in the Sky".  The bottom left picture is Kool & the Gang member Skip Martin with his trumpet, Sunset.

The students had so much fun learning from these artists.  They were able to perform a medley from our upcoming spring musical, "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" in front of two of the artists.
